On Linux Mint 11 (and Ubuntu 11.04?) the workaround should be
"UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=".
To be more specific, use the following command in your launcher:
env UBUNTU_MENUPROXY= /usr/bin/truecrypt

Ted, could you explain that in more detail with "UBUNTU_APPMENU=". I
can't see any difference when I do "UBUNTU_APPMENU=" and then
"truecrypt" in a terminal. Thanks a lot! This bug is really annoying for
me, no more automount on startup, have to mount everything manually...

I'm not familiar with TrueCrypt or how to get it, but this sounds like a
new way that they are using menu. It's kinda difficult to say how that
is without looking at the source.
A work around is to modify the TrueCrypt launcher so that it does
"UBUNTU_APPMENU=" before executing the executable. T
