@Kamus: Should I file a new bug report for my problem? I think I'm
experiencing another bug then Jim since all I get is a non-responding

The above is true no matter what player I plug in

Jim just one more thing, could you install the package mtp-tools and
then run "mtp-detect" and attach all the output information of this

The only way I could banshee to run without sudo was to delete the
partition and reinstall Ubuntu, which allows Banshee to run from the GUI
but to try and sync a device you just get permission errors (see screen
shots) I'm just wondering what I have done wrong

I just removed both directories but Banshee still doesn't load.. in the
terminal these lines appear:

You should not run banshee with sudo permissions, is not needed. Have
you tried to remove your ".config/banshee-1" and ".cache/banshee-1"
directories from your home and then try banshee again (without sudo)?

I did the ultimate ... removed Ubuntu from my machine and started from
scratch now Banshee starts from the GUI but still is flawed ..

I have really tried to get banshee to work but it does seem to be failed
on this machine but I have added a debug trace which may help

UPDATE
from the terminal if you run the command Sudo banshee -debug banshee runs fine
so it would appear I have a permissions problem
