sorry for replying late: I didn't have the corruption lately as I
switched to the old gnome window manager. Now, when running Unity I
can't reproduce the 'disappeared' panel, but it is now constantly 'semi-
transparent'. So, I cannot complete the bug anymore.

Sounds very similar to bug 769957 but the steps to reproduce are
different. Does the corruption for this bug look the same as when you
reproduce 769957?
Can you provide a screenshot? I don't see the aforementioned attachment.

I think this is not a nvidia related bug.
I have the same problem (chromium browser, and visible items while "switching")
on a Fujitsu notebook with Intel graphics.

When I switch to other workspaces, the top panel shows all the items
(applets, time/date, etc) __WHILE__ switching, but when I 'arrive' at
the next workspace, everything disappears again.
