backend of CUPS and not in udev-configure-printer. Moving to cups ...

Sorry, did not see that the original reporter is not the same as of bug
793244. James, if your problem is independent of suspend/hibernate, you
naturally do not need to check anything before and after
suspend/hibernate, simply test in the situation where the problem
usually occurs for you.

Can you proceed as I have described in my comments of bug 793244? Try
here to get a backtrace of the /lib/udev/udev-configure-printer process,
but at least try to find out what the USB subsystem reports and what is
different there before and after suspend/hibernate.
