Kernel 3.0 is included in oneiric, so if it's fixed there, yes it should
be fixed for oneiric.

lirc not working correctly on 2.6.38 kernel
No clue. I don't use *buntu at all, let alone follow its development
releases. The bug I had in mind was fixed in kernel 3.0 though.

Can we expect this to be fixed in mythbuntu oneric. 11.10. Let me know
if I can help testing it. I know couple of people have reported a fix
here but also note that they had to generate lircd.conf file with new
HEX codes.

wrt comment #13, there's a bug in the mceusb driver that affects some IR
signals, which was fixed in kernel 3.0 with the stable tree cc'd. I
believe it should end up in 2.6.39 stable, dunno if 2.6.38 stable is
actually being maintained anymore, so no clue if ubuntu will ever get
the fix before its

This bug also affects my system. Everything was working fine with 10.10;
fails with upgrade to 11.04. I'm using a Philips (or NXP) eHome Infrared
Receiver with a Hauppauge RC5 remote.
The short story is that I had to use the devinput driver,
/dev/input/event# device and a new lircd.conf file. Ever
In reply to comment #6, you're doing it wrong. On multiple levels. You
are trying to use devinput, but the mceusb driver hasn't been configured
to use the hauppauge rc5 keymap. Then you're trying to use a raw IR
config with that. Won't work. You need to use /dev/lirc0 for a raw IR
config. For devin

Ok I understand Tivo remote to be different beast. So I am trying to
get hauppauge remote to get working.
I upgraded to 2.6.39 rc5 kernel and still dont see any output on irw. I
change protocol to rc-5 for hauppauge remote using following ir-keytable
-p RC-5. or echo rc-5 > /sys/class/rc/rc0/pr
OP: Note also though: devinput mode with the windows media center rc-6
keymap loaded isn't going to work at all with a TiVo remote. You need to
either load a tivo keymap (which I don't think exists until kernel
2.6.39 or .40), or just use the /dev/lirc0 method with the TiVo

There are two perfectly valid ways to use the mceusb driver, one is via
the "default" lirc driver and /dev/lirc0, the other is using devinput
and the mceusb device's input layer event device (or better, its symlink
in /dev/input/by-id/). The current problem with trying to use devinput
mode is that
This is what I had in in 10.10 and it worked but same thing did not work
on 11.04. See the Jarod Wilsons blog + other people reporting similar
behavior

It sounds like you have your remote device misconfigured.
It should not be using devinput, but rather native lirc. I actually
have the below config working properly on natty. After you set it,
restart the lirc init script.
