I have the same problem with a 6600GT and my new 7300GS. I am using the
DVI port or one LCD and the VGA for a second. After booting with a
LiveCD, when X tries to load I get diagonal orange stripes across both
screens and nothing else. I can't use ctrl-alt-f1 to switch to a

I assume it works properly with just a single monitor attached?
Could you attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file after booting up with 2
monitors, and again when booting up with just 1?
