Title:
gimp in natty appears to depend on old, non-installable package
That confirms Manfred Hampl's suspicion. In addition to changing karmic
to natty in the last line of /etc/apt/sources.list, I recommend you also
comment out the line right before that (the one that says jaunty), by
putting a # character in front of it. Please see if those changes make a
difference,

Changing from synaptic to gimp, since if this is a bug, it is a bug in
gimp's dependencies. Also marking Incomplete in connection with the
request for information in comment #4.

libpoppler-glib4 is only present in Lucid, suggesting that something may
be wrong with your software sources. Please run
ls -l /etc/apt/sources.list.d
and post the output. Please also run the command
apt-get -s install libpoppler-glib4
and post the output. That won't actually try to install any

gimp should depend on libpoppler-glib6 and not on libpoppler-glib4 so
this seems to be an ancient version?
Please issue the command
dpkg -l | grep gimp
and post the output
