This is not fixed. Whenever I have modified my Launcher shortcuts, Unity
will not start at first login. If i switch to a console, restart gdm,
and login again, Unity starts normally.

Thanks Bass_DR! I also had toyed with the menu editor, and now was faced
with the same problem. Going in ~/.local/share/applications and deleting
compiz.desktop, gnome-wm.desktop and mutter.desktop (anything related to
window management) did the trick!

I solved this problem recently, the problem occurred (in my case)
because I removed shortcuts manually via the "menu" option, in the
"other" tab. In order to have those needed shortcuts back, I went to
~/.local/share/applications/ and removed *.desktop (I don't know exactly
which *.desktop caused t
I am having the same problem. I had to create a few launcher icons to
open terminal and a web browser. I am doing the workaround right now,
but won't that stop me from logging into the "classic Ubuntu"
environment if I have need?
I didn't have this problem at first, everything was working fine.
I have the same problem here. A work-around is to add "unity" to the
"applications at startup".
