Please Luka, don't close it as invalid. There is an error here, it
happens to everyone who starts using k9copy for the first time: the
program says "DVD is not opened" and we start to wander what happens.
Another way is to disable the controls that report the error until the
dvd is "opened". In fac
Steve, I think this is not a bug, but just the way k9copy works: it
needs you to manually open DVD first. I would suggest to close it as
invalid, as no response from reporter.

Same as Tyler, Google brought me here. The real bug is that the error
message is wrong. It is a bug and it should be corrected. It should say:
open the disk first. When you are trying to rip a copyrighted material,
the first thought is: where is the dvdlib?

Google brought me here because I, too, was looking for the cause of the
"dvd is not opened" message. I followed Luka's suggestion to perform an
"open" first and now I'm all set. I suspect dogen's error messages are
benign (I also got the usbfs messages) and that he slipped up with
k9copy's interfa
I think you just need to perform File -> Open... (press Ctrl-O) action in order
to read DVD layout.
You should run k9copy as normal user and not as root.
