I'm using nvidia 173 driversand it works just well...can u pls tell me
whether the GPU will be blacklisted in ubuntu 11.10.The 173 driver is
outdated and a bit slow in my opinion

this GPU is blacklisted to work with Unity, it have a lot of issue,
you should use unity-2d or Ubuntu Classic

YesI did that.But nothing happened.Unity does not respond as
usual.Right now using the nvidia 173works well...though a bit slow
i guess:)

this means the bug is not unity Unity because it requires the driver
to be working but in your case the driver is not activated hence unity
can't start. Thats a problem with 'jockey' or 'jockey-gtk'
