This is not a bug but the default behaviour of the backspace key since 2005.
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.backspace_action.
Tested with Ubuntu 18.04 and Firefox 61.
Options 0, 1 and 2 all work as described in the article.
Closing bug report by marking "Invalid" as backspace key works as
Don't use Firefox now for a long time. But by the look of it, don't
