Dear Phillip,
Sadly enough I can't give you an answer.
I don't know on wich of my three devices this problem occured.
My notebook and laptopr are still running Ubuntu. But they are upgraded without
a fres installation.
My PC is now running openSUSE.
Seeing that the version is now EOL and this ca
10.10 is end of life and the fstab should now be using UUIDs. Have you
had this happen on 12.04+?

Same here. Installed ubuntu 11.04 (alternative ) from USB
After installation my fstab looked like this:
