A Provides: won't help for a versioned dependency that cnijfilter-
common. The ancient cupsys names were dropped in 2008, and the
transitional packages finally removed in 2010. After 5 years, Canon
should really be able to rebuild their drivers against the current
toolchains and libraries..

With the multiarch changes in Ubuntu 12.04 amd64 and the newer
cnijfilter packages, the situation is far better:
