panel without problems => network, user, devices, messaging and datetime
indicator.

Changing themes does not help. Warning messages are somewhat different.

Looks like something has gone wrong/missing with the indicator side of the
sound service. An odd one for sure.
Could you please remove indicator sound and then reinstall it.
sudo apt-get remove indicator-sound
sudo apt-get install indicator-sound
