This is almost certainly bug 822157, which is fixed in oneiric. It's
also fixed in unity 3.8.18 but that may never be released for natty.
If people continue to experience this problem in Ubuntu 11.10 oneiric
Unity Search Dash takes a lot of time to open with Intel HD and Nvidia
GT 540M, switching to Unity 2D is a solution for now...
Sometimes I can't even type in the search bar.

Affects me on nvidia driver version 270.41.06. Platform is NVIDIA
9800GT. Makes the desktop almost unusable, compiz regularly goes to 70%
CPU usage.

Hello!
I'am using Ubuntu natty 11.04 and clementine 0.7.1.
My laptop is on centrion 1.6, 512mo ram and integrated graphic chipset
Intel GMA 900.
And... i don't have this bug!
This bug should be reserved to nVidia users?

I can confirm this on this PNG.
Basically, it's massive (2400x1091px and nearly 1MB in size) and with
tons of (troublesome?) transparency. This was fine as a launcher in
plain GNOME, but when used in Unity - not that I'd want to with the
square-shaped icons, but still - it made it very, very slow.
It took me quite a while to figure out what was causing the problem. I
reset all icons to default (unity --reset-icons) and then added every
icon one by one. So far the only icon that is causing this problem is
Clementine.
I think this happens because Clementine has a scalable icon which takes too
I think is as a "High" priority bug as it could/may also happen with
other applications as well.
