I also have this problem. It came up when I lost my VPN connection.
Fortunately on a multi core CPU only 1 core gets the full load. So my
system is still responding. After killing remmina everything works fine.

Yes helge. The problem still exists.
I am using Ubuntu 12.04 and it takes CPU 100% to remote connect my
Windows7. Both Windows and Ubuntu hosts take CPU 100% and the problem
can only be suspended by killing this software.
