In 12.04 beta, I'm using clipit instead of parcellite, and it shows up
fine in the "system tray" (by the clock).
sudo apt-get install clipit

The gsettings command is the solution (or workaround). You just have to
logout and then login again to have effect, at least in my case. Now
parcellite is showing.

I tried gsettings... and that had no effect, it still won't show in my
system. I ran the gsettings-command in a terminal and it gave no output.
