'cat /proc/asound/card0/codec*' gives me

Well, ALSA (linux-source-2.6.19/alsa-driver) is partly to blame due to
the mixer controls' enumeration, but that's not a problem easily
resolved without touching -all- drivers.
Guillaume and Nicolas, please attach your respective ``lspci -nv && cat

Here's the output you asked:
Simple mixer control 'Master',0
Capabilities: pvolume pswitch
Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right
Limits: Playback 0 - 43
Mono:
Front Left: Playback 15 [35%] [on]
Front Right: Playback 15 [35%] [on]
Simple mixer control 'PCM',0
Capabilities: pvolu
Ok, there definitely is some kind of bug here... not sure if it's alsa
or gstreamer though.
I wonder which volume should've been chosen instead of headphone... PCM?
There definitely is something like Master or Front missing here...
Daniel, do you have an idea what one is supposed to do with alsa
Nicolas, what's the output of "amixer --device=default" on your box?

# amixer --device=default
Simple mixer control 'Headphone',0
Capabilities: pvolume pswitch
Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right
Limits: Playback 0 - 43
Mono:
Front Left: Playback 38 [88%] [-7.50dB] [on]
Front Right: Playback 38 [88%] [-7.50dB] [on]
Simple mixer control 'PCM',0
Ok i see the problem.
The applet change the volume for the headphone and not the speaker.
If i open the volume control and change the volume of the speaker it works.
Any idea why the applet is set on the headphone and not the speaker?
