I have an Acer Extensa 4420 running Hardy. I have the same problem--when
I suspend or hibernate, I lose sound.
I haven't tried the above fix yet, but will, possibly this evening.

What release was this on? If it was Edgy, that's no longer supported.
Can you reproduce this bug on Hardy or Intrepid? If not, the bug needs
to be closed.
