Hi,
thanks, but I've found a workaround: use windows 7!
Ubuntu is the reason, why I switched back to Windows after 10 years Linux as
the only desktop system.

simple things like rendering icons, are done so inefficiently with the
GPU in Unity-3D that rendering in software like Unity-2D would be much
faster.

When scrolling in the dash compiz consumes 60-70% of my cpu. this is on
a core2duo processor. On the other hand unity-2d which does not even use
GPU, merely consumes 30-40% and is smoooth.
