I have tested kubuntu feisty herd 5. usb keys appear on the desktop
using the live cd. The content is accessible.

In the volume and file system section of kde control center, th cd/dvd device
is disable by default. when i enable it i can read the content of the removale
support and the icons appear on the desktop. but i can't eject it without
disabling the cd/dvd device in the kde kontrol center.

I was going through bugs today and noticed there has not been an update for a

There should be a setting in KDE for whether or not the mounted drives
are visible on the desktop. Could you please check in the KDE Control
Center to check if this option is set?
