SInce I did a clean install of Kubuntu 11.04 (The final release) I have
been unable to get akonadi google resource to sync. even the previous
solution of compiling from source to get it to work, nolonger works :/

sync contacts and at least send calendar updates to Google, so I believe
that the rebuild I uploaded will get it working at least somewhat in

For the original bur reporter: In the calendar in kontact, you can
right-click the 'akonadi_gcal_resource_x' and choose reload. This makes
kontact freeze for some time, and produces the error messages described
in the upsteam bug report. The calendar is not synced, like it should.

2. Look at Kontact and wait...wait wait wait.
3. Nothing happens, even if one chooses (Reload) on the akonadi
Ubuntu Natty is now in beta. If this is just a packaging issue, it
should be noticed now also by the packagers, before natty is put in
freeze. As per the upsteam bug report, this affects at least kubuntu
10.10 with kde 4.6 from backports and natty with kde 4.6.1, and can be
resolved by recompiling
That could certainly be a source of trouble. Please, unify libraries.

I noticed that libgcal requires libcurl4-gnutls-dev, while akonadi-
googledata requires libcurl4-openssl-dev instead. Can it be a library
issue?

according to the conclusions reached in KDE bug 264861 [1], this is a
packaging bug. building and installing these same versions from source
--even using a simple dpkg-buildpackage call for each one--appears to
fix the problem.
