This bug is still present in the Gutsy installer.
Workaround: when the error message comes up saying that no networking
hardware has been detected, press Ctrl-Alt-F2 in order to switch to
another tty. Press enter to activate it. Enter the command "modprobe
3c509". Verify that the module has indeed
I have now found out that also support for the on-board sound is
missing. Interesting enough both the ethernet card and the on-board
sound are detected by isapnp:
