Can you please retry with the version in feisty? The code for this is
there and not disabled by Ubuntu so it should in theory work...

But the version listed in Edgy should have the correct proxy
configuration. Did Ubuntu remove that feature? Or did Upstream
remove the feature?

The current version: dapper and edgy would only have security updates.
No version upgrades.
