I´ve got same problem. Problem is not releated to package xserver-xorg-
video-ati, I using integrated graphic card Intel. I can reproduce the
problem. Problem is not in Firefox, I using my own application and when
I scrolling in my application Xorg crashed:

Although I did nothing 'cause I knew nothing to do to resolve this bug,
in my case it was resolved merely by installing all required and
suggested updates to my system. Other than doing that I can offer no

I can't say when, but it appears that this problem has been resolved
through automatic updates. I've been running Firefox a couple of days
now with no crashes and no deterioration of responsiveness.

Using Firefox it took about ~5 minutes to freeze. The "apport-collect
698121" was, of course, run from a hard system reset. Hope it's useful.

I have discontinued using Firefox, but continue to experience the same
system freeze. There is, however, a noticeable difference between using
SeaMonkey verses Firefox and that is that the slow down phase is more
gradual and less severe though the ultimate system freeze is, like with
