Hello,
Same problem in Feisty 7.04 with a Pinnacle TV pci board...
A "&" was generate every 5 second... or a random caracter every 5 seconds...
I finaly remove the TV board, and the problem disapear.
No, I use an other PC, and Ubuntu 10.04.
I think that probably bug was resolved ?

Also, Per the kernel team's bug policy, can you please attach the
following information for the newer Hardy kernel:

The Hardy Heron Alpha2 release will be coming out soon. It will have an
updated version of the kernel. It would be great if you could test with

Ok, this bug is still an issue, as I just figured out. I forgot that I had this
workaround:
In /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf, I added the line:
options saa7134 disable_ir=1
This disables IR support for the TV card (duh), which makes the
backspace problem disappear, but of course, I can't use the

Alright, the problem really seems to have disappeared. I have the module
loaded now, without any problems. However, I won't be able to test if I
can watch TV now since I currently don't have any TV signal source
available (not even a small antenna :-( ). But judging from the logs, it
should be work
To the best of my knowledge, yes. At least when Feisty first came out. I
can tell you more in two days, then I'll have the opportunity to test it
with an up to date Feisty.

a Pinnacle PCTV Pro card installed, which has an IR remote control.
Ubuntu therefore automatically loads the saa7134 module at startup. When
