included is qalculate-gtk.desktop; KDE variants are filtered out.

Interesting, that the qalculate-gtk and qalculate_kde desktop entries contain
different Category specifications, this might be the reason why the gtk version
does not appear for a search for calculator:
KDE version: Categories=Qt;KDE;Utility;Science;
GTK version: Categories=Education;Science;Calc
