going to flip it to be 'mesa' and leave the mesa guys to know if it's
actually the same.

Hi,
Can you give details of your radeon hardware and whether you use the open
drivers or have frglx installed (the closed drivers).
A copy of your /var/log/Xorg.0.log might help us tell some of that.
