Googling i found this that seems to work, but i cannot test it:
open a terminal and paste all these lines one by one:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install

sorry for pitching in late after a long gap...
I have been busy updating my system and googling a lot to see if my cam
can be fixed..
But I am yet to succeed.. I have updated my system to ubuntu 10.10 with
option to install updates daily.. so that makes my system up to date
