David, thanks for the mockup.
As I said, I think this proposal has a steep hill to climb in terms of
the likely clutter vs value assessment.
In particular, we're starting to look more closely at the relationship
between the launcher and workspaces. That means we need to be thinking
not only of t
So that the launcher helps you quickly identify what open windows you
have onscreen, even if they're partially hidden behind other windows.

Mark, I've done a quick, simple mockup considering these points:
- Left arrows show the number of open windows, up to three.
- Left arrows which are "on" show the number of shown windows, also up to three.
Thus, in the mockup:
- The launcher to the left indicates that there are at least three op
