As Jeremy has suggested in comment #4, please run 'apport-collect -p
linux 684078'. I think you are confusing Broadcom wired ethernet with
Broadcom wireless.

Tim,
My apologies for my delay in responding.
I have a Broadcom 4_*3*_12 and no, it continues to not work. As for the
kernel:
Ubuntu 2.6.35-24.42-generic-pae 2.6.35.8
Hope this helps.

Hi BeachBuddah,
Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release
of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/ . If the issue remains, please run
the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal).
Chris - your previous statement was not very precise. Please confirm
that your B4401 ethernet _is_ now working and provide the exact version
of the kernel that you are running:
cat /proc/version_signature
Thanks.

Tim,
The problem continued. I worked around by plugging in one of those
wireless-N adapters and that sort of has solved the problem. I updated
to the latest driver today and have no issues - wi-fi or otherwise.
Thank you for the follow-up.

BeachBuddah - there is little change between 2.6.35.22 and 2.6.35.23
that would affect your ethernet driver. Is it still happening? If so,
then try blacklisting the Intel IPS driver:
echo intel_ips | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-intel-ips.conf
