Ok, let's get a workaround for Alpha1 just in case you don't have 3D
support (the release team hacked this).
/!\ this doesn't fix the case where you have selected "no effect" in the
gnome-display-properties before the upgrade.

chipset motherboard. I get no menu panel top or bottom just the
wallpaper and examples/install icons and a pop-up saying there are
restricted drivers to install.

I'm also testing the Alpha1 i386 iso and the desktop is now totally
unusable for me unless I create a launcher for gnome-terminal and work
from there. The 11/29 daily would still default to "no effects" and at
least be usable, now it is not!
My hardware:
