If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

Im a new (linux noob) here.. any solution on this (still using the 10.10
version), i also had the random hangs until i removed firefox

Sorry i downgraded to 10.04 because I also had random system hangs...
now everything is ok with a fresh install...

I also have a T42 and recently upgraded to 10.10 from 10.04 and had the
same problem - on resume I would have a TTY login appear, but no
recognition of the keyboard. I would hold the power button and force
the laptop to restart or shutdown.

I have same problem on a Dell Inspiron 6400.
It will not resume if the screen has blanked (power saving) while in suspend.
(If I suspend have the screen saver displayed, I *can* resume OK.)
Reverted to 2.6.35-22 as workaround.
