I did a fresh install of Kubuntu 11.04 and the problem has disappeared.
I have been using it for about 2 days and have not noticed the problem
at all.

I just updated to KDE 4.6 in Kubuntu 10.10 and see this same problem. It
was also there before I upgraded but now it affects the terminal as well
where as before it never did, I always noticed it in the browser.

You have moved the bug from kdebase-workspace to mesa? It doesn't make
sense. If it was due to mesa, shouldn't it happen with compiz too? If it
was not due to KDE itself, why is it mentioned as the culprit on that
