Which version of Ubuntu do you have this problem on? I am unable to
reproduce using the above steps in Gutsy:
~$ xbindkeys -k
Press combination of keys or/and click under the window.
You can use one of the two lines after "NoCommand"
in $HOME/.xbindkeysrc to bind a key.
X connection to :0.0 broken
This bug still exists.
apt-get install xbindkeys
./xbindkeys -k
now manually close the window that pops up.
Big ole error.
