Exact same problem here. It doesn't suspend fully (fan still going) and

Problem persisted when trying to fix it again with above solution after
reinstalling Ubuntu 10.10 (due to Nvida driver problems)
Seems the above solution was not enough.
Got it to work after some trial and error with reference to the
previously mentioned post:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php
Well after implementing the old solution after the kernel update suspend
and hibernation seem to work now!
The soulution that now worked was:
Solution:
1. Open up the console and create a new file:
Code:
sudo nano /etc/pm/config.d/usb3-suspend-workaround
2. Add this line:

changed.
Now both suspend and hibernation does not freeze up but end in a Lock
screen where I can sign in again
I will post new syslogs for those events seems the USB3.0 is

Description of "crash":
When suspending the screen goes blank and after a few seconds a single
non-blinking underline mark appears at the top left corner and then it seems to
freeze up.
Attached is what I believe is the relevant section for the suspend in
regards to the timestamps.

Please gather the following if possible:
* A bit more information regarding what the 'crash' looks like.
* An attachment of the surrounding area from /var/log/syslog regarding the
error. You should see something like:

Thank you for your reply
I had already reviewed that thread and implemented the workaround's discussed
in it (including both the chmod commands) but to no effect and therefor I
posted this bug.
My friend has the same problem with his new Asus N61JQ laptop, that is, the
workaround does not work
