bug is fixed in totem; while not mentioned in the changelog, the hardy
totem-xine/totem-gstreamer package has:
if [ "$1" = "remove" ] || [ "$1" = "deconfigure" ] ; then
update-alternatives [...]
fi
so the alternative is not reset on upgrades.
