/var/log/installer/syslog won't exist in Edgy, but I need the others.
Even if you can't see anything interesting in /var/log/syslog, I may
well be able to, and I certainly can't do anything without it.

i ended up installing from a standard dapper ubuntu cdrom and then upgrading to
edgy and kde.
during the process the old log files was erased and i forgot to make
copies.
