need to turn down the volume a bit, can you try this with alsamixer? Open with
"alsamixer" terminal command, select "Capture" (with F4). Then adjust the
levels of "Capture", "Mic" and "Internal Mic" until the recording

This bug also applies to me with an Ubuntu 10.04 netbook clean install
in a new HP Compaq CQ10-510CA. Nothing I have tried so far in response
to inputs from Ubuntu forum subscribers has helped.

Still had no chance to test ext mic but looks your patch broke sound
controls.
1. Open some video on youtube.
2. Make it as loud as posiible.
3.
3.1. open standard gnome sound setting window.
3.2. check check box to turn of sound in whole system - nothing happens sound
from video is still plaing
@Ihor, thanks for testing. Everything looks ok in the alsa-info as far
as I can tell, can you verify that external mic is still working with
the DKMS package installed? Just to verify that the error is not higher
up in the stack.

Right, added the new mic nids and I've also made a DKMS package for you to
test. Please do the following:
1) Make sure no alsa driver overrides (such as
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/InstallingLinuxAlsaDriverModules are installed).
Also remove model quirks in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf.
2) D
There are dmic nids at 0x11 and 0x20 which are not enabled for the
92HD88 chip, this should be fixed.

Hi Daniel,
have tried it with a line:
options snd-hda-intel model=hp-dv7-4000
in "/etc/modprobe.de/alsa-base.conf" and the same for "model=hp" with
reboots in between. In both configurations, the microphone didnt work.
What else can i do?
greetings, Torsten

It's the newest version; they're rebuilt daily against what's current in
sound-2.6 master HEAD.
For your hardware, the relevant model quirks are listed in:

[STAC_92HD83XXX_AUTO] = "auto",
[STAC_92HD83XXX_REF] = "ref
Unfortunately, nothing has changed, but the alsa driver version from
ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev/ppa
is 1.0.23, which is not newer then the version before installing. Is that
right? Please inform me, if i can help.
