Thanks for reporting the bug, and confirming that it's fixed in Feisty.
I'm marking it fix released as per the discussion. It's extremely unlikely
we'd want to go back and fix this in earlier releases.

Agree - It was exceptionally slow in Edgy - It seems to have been fixed in
Feisty (I just upgraded thursday night). I have one of the Ati Radeon 320 M
(compaq presario 2100). My fix in Edgy was to change the xorg.conf device
section to this:
Section "Device"
Identifier "ATI Radeon"
if it was just that vesa was slow, then that has been fixed in Feisty.
