I am using xubuntu 11.04 and the bug exists in that installation. The
red icon of update notifier shows there are security updates available,
but they are not installed automatically. Here password is not prompted.
I see no effect in the setting in software-properties-gtk.

on selected settings.

Important security updates are not automatical
I've noticed the same problem. This is clearly a security issue, and
clearly a bug. The dialog box says "Install security updates without
confirmation", yet the updates are not installed until the user enters a
password. This is, at best, misleading. At the very least, the wording
in the dialog
How is this not a security problem? I have a machine that is not getting
updated regularly, due to a flaw in the way that the system handles
updates. That makes it a security problem.
