This worked for me (Ubuntu 12.04):
sudo apt-get install alsa-oss
aoss bb
for full screen, change to console (Ctrl+Alt+F1) before running "aoss
bb".

On Quantal, the package is called alsa-oss; this workaround works for

To manage notificat
I tried it, but can only get sound or "video", but not both at the same time.
This is on Ubuntu 10.10.
I tried with padsp and pasuspender, but they didn't work.
Also tried different sound settings in bb, without success.
