This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it
recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the

Update: running glxgears with 2.6.35-02063509-generic and going to
suspend gets me the behaviour described by Olaf. Fans turn off but
screen remains on, computer is frozen.

I also experience constant freezes with maverick when going into suspend. The
suspend seems to go well, network, hard drive etc... is turned off, but the
screen remains on in text mode. Then quickly the fan speeds up and the laptop
heats up badly. Going to suspend freezes the laptop about 9 time
