Since there was not that much progress on this issue I downgraded to
plain lucid (i.e. removed all the ppa packages and installed kde again).
Now kgpg editor is working agin (as expected).

I've been having this same problem for months. Encryption via the
clipboard also fails (KGPG returns the plaintext without encrypting it).
