It resolved after rebooting (before this I got the message that my system
"could be unsusable", that scared me a lot).
NOTE: I had to use an older kernel since last kernel installed gave several
error messages.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error caused by a corrupted
archive. Please execute the following commands, as it will clear your
package cache, in a terminal ( Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal )
:
sudo apt-get c
