The package libc6-i686 is no longer available in maverick. This in
itself should not be a problem. The system should be able to fallback to
the "normal" one.
Can you please give me the output of:
$ ls -al /lib/tls
and
$ md5sum /lib/tls/libc.so.6

I just did a release update from 10.04 to 10.10 for fun, but it is
removing libc6-i686, which does result in a system which is a bit
uncomfortable ... :)
