Eventually I got sdlmame to run at a decent speed. Since x-mame development seems to have stopped and sdlmame development continues, perhaps it would be better to remove x-mame from Ubuntu and concentrate on making sdlmame work better. That's what I intend to do now... -- xmame-x appears to be br

This is also a problem with xmess-x, and xmame-sdl. Basically, xmame is broken. At first I thought the fix was mame (aka sdlmame) but that turns out to run too slowly, so it's not a real solution for me yet. A working xmame would therefore be nice... -- xmame-x appears to be broken in maverick h
