Thanks, but in my case it has nothing to do with missing keys. I wonder
if it has something to do with the fact that I usually update in the
terminal instead of update manager.

Yeah, update manager shows that my last update was 2 days ago even
though I never use update manager and update in the terminal, but did so
much more recently than 2 days ago.

OK, will try with automatic updates for a while now. But who is sending
this notification to the panel if I have automatic updates switched off?
I know this didn't happen in lucid.

Have you tried to turn on automatic updates and check if is still
happen? by the way, I am not sure if this issue is related to gnome-
panel.
