Solved for me:
x...@-desktop:~$ grep -Rn "notification-daemon" /var/log 2>/dev/null | more
/var/log/dpkg.log:922:2010-10-13 20:47:38 install notification-daemon
0.4.0-2ubuntu2
/var/log/dpkg.log:923:2010-10-13 20:47:38 status half-installed
notification-daemon 0.4.0-2ubuntu2
/var/log/dpkg.log
Discovered due to my python program uses: os.system('notify-send foo bar')
Too bad notify-send dont have --verbose or --debug parameter options.
