yes, its an upstream bug. a vanilla-2.6.35.6 kernel with the ubuntu

okay, i got it.
systemsettings -> start&stop -> services and disable power management. then it
does not happen on start. if you start the powermanagement service under gnome,
you get the kernel-panic.
so its a powermanagement issue, acpi maybe?

happens with 2.6.35.6 make-kpkg kernel with source from kernel.org and
config from ubuntu, too.
2.6.32 (lucid kernel) should work (not tested, because without headers
in marverick i cannot compile nvidia driver), 2.6.35.6 is broken.
